राष्ट्रों के बीच रणनीतिक योजना, आतंकवाद विरोधी अभियानों और समुद्री सुरक्षा डोमेन पर चर्चा होगी
भारत क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा और रक्षा सहयोग पर चर्चाओं में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान करने के लिये तैयार है। सम्मिलित अध्यक्ष रक्षा कर्मचारी संघ (CISC), लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल JP Mathew, भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व कर रहे हैं वे हवाई में भारतीय प्रशांत चीफ ऑफ़ डिफेंस (IP-CHOD) सम्मेलन में शामिल हो रहे हैं। जिसका आयोजन सितंबर 18-20, 2024 को किया जा रहा है, यह उच्च प्रोफाइल की वेशभूषा मिलाने वाला संगठन है जिसने भारत-प्रशांत क्षेत्र के वरिष्ठ सैन्य नेताओं को एकत्र किया है।
 
IP-CHOD सम्मेलन को भारत-प्रशांत क्षेत्र में सबसे दबावपूर्ण सुरक्षा मुद्दों को सम्बोधित करने वालE प्रमुख रक्षा मंच के रूप में मान्यता दी गई है। इस वार्षिक बैठक में सैन्य नेताओं को क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा गतिविधियों पर विचार विनिमय करने और अन्तर्दृष्टि प्रदान करने का मंच प्रदान करने के लिए भारत उनकी भूमिका की सराहना करता है।
 
इस वर्ष 28 देशों या बहुराष्ट्रीय संगठनों ने सम्मेलन में भाग लिया, जिसका आयोजन 1998 से होता आ रहा है जिसका उद्देश्य भारत-प्रशांत से वरिष्ठ सैन्य नेताओं को एकत्र करने का है।
 
इस वर्ष के सम्मेलन का कार्यक्रम, "भविष्य का भारत-प्रशांत: एक लचीले और अन्तःसंबद्ध क्षेत्र निर्माण" के आसपास घूमता है। इसमें क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा, आतंकवाद का मुकाबला, समुद्री डोमेन जागरूकता, और सैन्य-सैन्य सहयोग जैसे महत्वपूर्ण विषय शामिल हैं।
 
India has a long history of participating in joint exercises with other nations in the Indo-Pacific, including the Malabar Exercise, which it regularly conducts with the United States, Japan and Australia.
 
Over the years, India has strengthened its defenses from outside and within, emerging as a formidable presence in the Indo-Pacific region.
 
India's participation in IP-CHOD is in keeping with strong defense ties with the US, amid other defense technology transfers and intelligence sharing.
 
A part of India's strategy is its commitment to upholding international law and ensuring that sea lanes remain free and open for trade. 
 
Defence cooperation between India and the US has grown, and the attendance of the Lt Gen JP Mathew at the IP-CHOD conference highlights this. The United States Indo-Pacific Command, which hosts the conference, plays a pivotal role in maintaining regional security and fostering cooperation between the US and its allies.
