Meeting in New Delhi on Friday (March 29, 2024), External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba discussed the ongoing Ukraine conflict and initiatives to achieve peace.
Their talks also focused on fostering constructive dialogue and strengthening bilateral relations between India and Ukraine in diverse fields, including trade and investment.
"An open and wide-ranging conversation with Ukraine FM @DmytroKuleba this afternoon. Our discussions focused on the ongoing conflict and its wider ramifications. Exchanged views on various initiatives in that context. Spoke as well on global and regional issues of interest to both of us. Reiterated our commitment to strengthen the overall relationship, including bilateral cooperation" EAM Jaishankar posted on social media platform X.
According to the MEA, the exchange of views on regional and global matters involved a comprehensive discussion on the ongoing conflict and efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement.
Ukraine Foreign Minister Kuleba arrived in New Delhi on Thursday (Marchv29, 2024) on a two-day visit to India amid efforts to seek a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
According to the MEA, the meeting between EAM Jaishankar Foreign Minister Kuleba focused on fostering constructive dialogue and strengthening bilateral relations between India and Ukraine including in areas such as trade and investment, science and technology, defence, agriculture, health, culture, and education.
The two ministers also held a separate discussion on matters related to the India- Ukraine Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, Industrial and Cultural Cooperation and its working groups. Both sides agreed to work towards holding the 7th IGC meeting later this year.
“Pleased to co-chair the review meeting of our Inter-Governmental Commission with FM @DmytroKuleba of Ukraine. Noted the importance of further strengthening cooperation in all domains. Our immediate goal is to get trade back to earlier levels. Perspectives on trade, health, S&T and agriculture cooperation shared today were useful. We agreed to prepare for the 7th IGC meeting later this year,” EAM Jaishankar said in a post on X.
Regular interactions at various levels and meetings of bilateral mechanisms have contributed to the strong and multifaceted partnership that exists between India and Ukraine, the MEA noted.
